Services for Ann Lynn Switzer, 18, 1019 W. 27th, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Catholic church. The Rev. Charles McGinn will officiate. Burial will be in Mont Calvary Cemetery.
A prayer service has been scheduled at 7 p.m. today at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Miss Switzer died Friday (July 2, 1983) in Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., from a viral infection of the heart. She had become ill Thursday.
She was born Aug. 5, 1964, in Omaha, Neb., and had lived in Lawrence for the last eight years. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic church and a 1982 graduate of Lawrence High School, where she was on the women’s gymnastics team and diving team. She had just completed her freshman year at Kansas University, where she was studying business administration. She also worked part-time as a hostess for Perkins Cake & Steak in Lawrence.
Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Switzer, of the home; two brothers, Stanley, Somerset, N.J., and Michael, of the home; two grandmothers, Mrs. Evelyn Switzer, Chanute, and Ila Fizgibbon, Miami, Okla.; and a great-grandmother, Mrs. W.W. Linder, Miami, Okla.
The family suggests memorials to St. Jude children’s Hospital, Memphis, in care of the mortuary.
