School activities are mostly quiet during Thanksgiving week.

President Regan vetoed an emergency spending resolution to restore operating funds to federal agencies and told his Cabinet to “cut down, shut down and eliminate all unnecessary government services.” It was his first veto in 10 months of office.
After months of considering what kind of development should take place in downtown Lawrence, the city created a Downtown Improvement Committee to be appointed by the Lawrence City Commission. The committee will make recommendations to the city for recruitment of a developer, and on redevelopment proposals for downtown Lawrence.
